Ignite is a club that was brought to Blessed Trinity by theology teacher Danielle Montepare. Ms. Montepare started the club because she saw that BT needed some type of religion club for students. “It started in 2011 after talking to a recent BT alum who told me that when they came to Blessed Trinity their faith was strong but after 4 years at this school they left with little to no faith in God,” said Ms. Montepare, “I knew that something new had to be done!”
Ignite meets every other Friday in Ms. Montepare’s room at 7 a.m.. If you need to be a little late, that’s okay. “Don’t be scared to come late, we get it, 7 am on a friday morning is not very desirable,” said BT senior Sam Naab, who is part of Ignite’s leader team. Ignite always has food options available to students who attend. “We are open to everyone and have amazing food each and every meeting,” said Sam.
At an Ignite meeting, a team leader such as Sam leads the group in Bible Study. The leaders will select and read a verse from scripture, and then the group will discuss the verse. “I love seeing new members attend our meetings and voicing their opinions, struggles, and ideas about how they can grow in faith so that we can really develop our own Ignite community,” said Sam.
Sam’s favorite part of the club has been being a part of the leadership team and watching the club grow. “In my three years of being in the club, our attendance has never been greater,” said Sam, “I love seeing new members attend our meetings and voicing their opinions, struggles, and ideas about how they can grow in faith so that we can really develop our own Ignite community.”
While the club is growing, they still want more BT students to join. “Come on! There is no registration or sign up, all of our events are always open to anyone,” said Ms. Montepare.
