Future Business Leaders of America

The BT chapter had a very busy and productive summer.  In June we had two students attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Anaheim, California, Alec Zirngibl and Michaela Deitrick.  Alec Zirngibl competed in Cyber Security.  Michaela Deitrick attended the NLC and the Institute for Leaders (IFL) as the Georgia FBLA state reporter.  The students were accompanied by their adviser, Dr. Su Craddock, and Alec’s parents, Sharon and Phil Zirngibl.  The conference was a success and the students learned a great deal in the process.

In July, the BT FBLA chapter officers attended the Summer Leadership Officer Training Seminar (SLOTS) at Tucker Middle School.  The BT officers in attendance were Emily Allsteadt, Reporter/Historian, Baylee Carter, Secretary, Alex Morley, Treasurer, and Norman Francis, Jr., vice president.  Our president, Christina Peyroux, was unable to attend due to a work commitment.  Unexpectedly, Norman became an FBLA Region officer for our region, region 11.  He attended the Region Officer Academy at Camp John Hope in Fort Valley, GA, along with Michaela Deitrick who was fulfilling a requirement of her state duties.

Michaela had an extremely demanding and industrious summer.  In addition to the aforementioned conferences she was required to attend, she also attended the Career and Technical Student Organization’s (CTSO) leadership training in June and the Georgia Association of Career and Technical Teachers’ conference in July.  Michaela is obviously dedicated to her position as the Georgia FBLA state reporter and has been representing herself and BT very well.

To our credit, the Blessed Trinity FBLA chapter is the only private school chapter that actively participates in Georgia FBLA.  The students have worked very hard to make the BT chapter what it is today.  It has grown from 24 members during the 2011-12 school year to 56 members during the 2012-13, and anticipating over 80 members during the 2013-14 school year.  With the first state officer and the second region officer in BT’s short history, there are bound to be great things happening during this school year.  Congratulations BT FBLA for a successful summer season and great wishes for the upcoming school year.
