FBLA Attends Fall Motivational Rally

20151015_150115Every year BT’s FBLA attends the Fall Motivational Rally in Perry, Georgia, where they listen to a motivational speaker, watch the state officers present various speeches about competitive events, leadership conferences, and other accolades, then attend the Georgia State Fair.

However, this year was different.

On Thursday, October 15, the group listened to the state officers, the guest speaker, and then something changed, according to Dr. Su Craddock, business department teacher and FBLA moderator. “We noticed additional gates were covering the front of the stage to deter anyone from jumping onto the stage. GBI agents and additional police officers flooded the floor. By all appearances it looked like someone was going to be arrested. Then, the guest speaker said ‘Put your hands together for the Internet sensation, Silento!’ The crowd roared with excitement,” said Dr. Craddock with a wide grin.

Silento? Did they hear correctly? Yes, he came out on stage and performed several songs including “Watch Me.” After his performance, he spoke to the packed Reaves Arena. He indicated that he was a 17-year-old student from Redan High School in Stone Mountain and that he was an FBLA member. The impact on the students was indescribable.

“He truly motivated the current students and will potentially inspire others to join as well. The best FBLA motivational rally EVER,” exclaimed Dr. Craddock.
